Sustainable cotton

The Benetton Group has been a member of the BCI (Better Cotton Initiative), the world’s largest program dedicated to the sustainability of cotton, since 2017. Following the mandates of the program, we began sourcing processed and harvested cotton from trained farmers to minimize the use of fertilizers and pesticides, using water and soil sustainably and abiding by principles of fairness in working relationships. In 2019 we reached a BCI cotton percentage equaling to 54% (calculated based on the total annual cotton requirement), a big leap forward compared to 23% the previous year. Our goal is to achieve 100% sustainable cotton (including organic, recycled and BCI) in our collections by 2025.
